Romusha at death railway Birma-Siam

March 1943 - Commencement of construction of railway lines between Muaro-Pekanbaru death 220km by the Japanese government. Development for 15 months and employs romusha 27,500 prisoners of war and engulf the soul. 

28 September 1945 - Indonesia Republik compel Japan to hand over the entire railway administration. The day was commemorated as a day of Railways. Then formed Djawatan Kereta Api Republik Indonesia (DKARI) in Java and the Negara Republik Indonesia in Sumatra.
